Starkey – Spinning Tales (Original Soundtrack)
Released July 14th 2017
Starkey today previewed the first snippet of music from his first ever NOREMIXES release, out this Friday 7/14/17. Check it out below.
Today we’re excited to announce the release of the new album from ghostinthehills, A Haunting Desire What Is Gone, on Friday, June 9th. The album is the Philadelphia-based producer’s third NOREMIXES release, and his most developed sonically to date. You can pre-order the mastered for iTunes version of the album via iTunes now, and preview one of our favorite tracks “Mid-Century Modern Interior” via soundcloud below.
On December 2nd, we’ll be releasing the second NOREMIXES album from composer, Joo Won Park. The album is entitled Modulationist and finds Joo Won expanding the palette of his last album Overundertone by including acoustic instruments into the mix. Hunter Brown joins the composer on opener, ‘Hallelujah’, for vibraphone and electronics. Later, Hunter is joined by Louis Pino on the rhythmically challenging ‘JNNJ’ for percussion duo and electronics. Theodosia Roussos is the oboist that gets lost in ‘Swamps, Showers, and Creatures’, and Giovanni Bertoni takes on Park’s electronics with two clarinets on ‘Armor+2’.
Pre-orders are available via iTunes and Bandcamp, and with a pre-order, you’ll receive ‘Armor+2’ immediately for download. If purchased through the NOREMIXES bandcamp, you’ll also receive scores for three of the pieces from the album.
We’re really excited to announce the NORESIDENCY release series!
This past Spring we did a residency at Philly’s The Art Dept; early evening, intimate concerts which we also recorded. We’ll be releasing a series of them starting next week, July 15th. They will be pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp, streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and for sale on iTunes and other stores for a very small amount. (Basically making them available in as many ways as possible!)
The third installment of our NOREMIXES NORESIDENCY at The Art Dept. in Philly is Friday, April 22nd. Mark your calendars! This month, NOREMIXES’ own Oh! Pears and Mikronesia will be joined by Valley Exit, the new moniker of Jeff Zeigler.
The Art Dept. is a small, intimate venue, so we recommend getting advance tickets. Doors are at 6:30pm, show is 7:00-9:00pm. Hope to see you there.
The NOREMIXES NORESIDENCY continues at The Art Dept. in Philly on Friday, March 25th. This month will feature live performances from Beck-Fields, Attia and Ben Warfield. The kickoff event in February was a huge success; we were so thrilled with the turnout and the music that night was amazing! This month is going to be equally special.
We highly recommend getting advanced tickets for this event because The Art Dept. is an extremely small venue. Last month we were at capacity! Pre-order tickets are available on the Art Dept. website here.
Philadelphia’s James Falconi returns to NOREMIXES as Atmosphreq with a sophomore release that builds upon the sonic palette of his 2015 self-titled debut. However, Northwest mise en Scéne feels less like a follow up and more like an accompaniment: the needed bookend to contain the composer’s strident soundscapes. The release is broken up by only 3 moments of silence, with each pairing of tracks evolving into opaque textures of phase shifts and disorienting rhythm throbbing.
The EP is released Friday, March 11th through all digital retailers and streaming sites, but you can preview and preorder the release direct from our Bandcamp page now and you’ll receive ‘Immutable’ instantly. Check it out below.
