by ·Comments Off on Noisey Debuts Cut Tongues & Golden Ratio Syrup Film “A Screaming Comes Across the Sky”
We are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the Cut Tongues & Golden Ratio Syrup ‘A Screaming Comes Across the Sky’ film. Golden Ratio Syrup’s project up until now has been anonymous, but today via Noisey, it was announced that the project is the work of Planet Mu / Mad Decent affiliated producer Rudi Zygadlo! You can read the whole article here.
The artists had this to say about the project.
“This is a highly personal project. The three of us have spent a lot of time together, listening to chamber music and taking certain mind exploding chemicals. The idea to collaborate came from that psychotropic period. We (Cut Tongues) were greatly inspired by Rudi’s piece of music. Our starting point was the piano sequence. Its painfully slow tempo connoted an image of laborious and aimless struggle. We then began to look into Erik Satie, who is explicitly referenced in the composition. Satie was an eccentric, to say the least: he claimed to only eat white food, kept two grand pianos stacked on top of each other, one for storage, and once sentenced himself to death in a letter to a Parisian newspaper. His sense of carnival and penchant for games inspired a whole series of invented sports, a Breugelian human landscape if you will. This is the central idea for the film: life as a meaningless sport with an arbitrary set of rules. And yet we must throw ourselves into it with joyous abandon.” – Cut Tongues & Golden Ratio Syrup

by ·Comments Off on NOREMIXES launches with release from Golden Ratio Syrup
We are happy to announce the very first NOREMIXES release! The release comes from a producer working under a brand new moniker, Golden Ratio Syrup. Instead of boring you with background info about who Golden Ratio Syrup is, the artist has asked to remain anonymous and let the music speak for itself.
Label founder, Paul J. Geissinger (aka Starkey) had this to say about Golden Ratio Syrup. “I was sent the demo as one long mp3 file. I started listening through my laptop speakers, but after about 4 minutes had to get in the studio and listen to it on some real speakers. It’s an amazing record and perfect for the first release for NOREMIXES.”
Golden Ratio Syrup’s self-titled debut will be released on January 12th of 2015 through all digital retailers and streaming sites, as well as the NOREMIXES bandcamp page. There will also be a limited edition green vinyl 12″ available through Ninja Tune’s crowdfunding site, Beat Delete. You can order that directly HERE. (The 12″ comes with a free digital download.) There are previews of two tracks from the release as well.
