WXPN The Key’s John Morrison sat down with RVLVR, Ben O’Neill and Starkey to discuss the upcoming RVLR & Ben O’Neill collaborative Stiff Upper Lip EP, released this Friday, December 1st.  They discuss the creative process of making this release, working with analog signal processing and a hardware mellotron, influences and more.  Alongside the interview, they’re also premiering another track from the release, Stardust, which Starkey called “one of the best songs of the year, hands down.”  Check out the full interview here.  Preview Stardust below.

We’re really excited to preview the first music from the forthcoming RVLVR & Ben O’Neill project, out December 1st.

You all should be familiar with RVLVR from his releases on this label, as well as Seclusiais and other imprints. However, Ben O’Neill may be a name you don’t recognize. Ben met James (aka RVLVR) when as undergrads at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts; so this project has been a long time in the making. For the past few years, O’Neill has been flexing his guitar skills on the road with the likes of John Legend, Jill Scott and Kanye West (amongst others).

Complex UK have premiered another track from the new Beck-Fields EP, Hone, entitled “Sun Under Sea”.  In their own words, ‘Sun Under Sea’ “continues [Beck-Fields’] exploration of softly-sung vocals and gentle synth washes against frenetic, but sparingly used, IDM beats for a mesmeric listen.”  The EP is released tomorrow, October 9th, and can be pre-ordered on our Bandcamp page.

nore010_DanielPotter-2°C_ArtFinal_LoRes

We are really excited to be releasing a new work from composer Daniel Potter this coming Monday, June 15th. It’s Potter’s 2nd release this year, following the ‘Modern Times’ & ‘Trident’ pieces released back in February.

‘2°C’ was written for 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and electronics derived from solely processing the recordings of the horns. ‘2°C’ continues Potter’s politically charged compositional subjects; this time taking on climate change.  The note patterns and dynamics of the piece were plotted out using the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies’ Graph of Annual Mean Temperatures which is also represented in the cover art for the release.

Decoder Magazine are premiering the work now ahead of its Monday release..  Check it out by following this link.  You can also pre-order the release on our bandcamp page now as well.
