We are extremely excited to be releasing Philadelphian Geo Metro’s new album Theosis this Friday, February 21st.  It’s part of a 3 album release he’s doing with the others dropping on Virtua 94 (Philadelphia) and the other on Tiger Blood Tapes (Toronto).  To celebrate, we’ve pressed up an ultra limited edition (50 only) super ferro normal-bias, real time duplication cassette with dark blue tint, grey liner, and no screws.  You can now Pre-order the Cassette over on our Bandcamp page, which comes with a digital copy of the album and a video for one of the album’s tracks, Kowloon.  Full digital release will also be this Friday.

Here’s a little bit more about Theosis:

NOREMIXES is the host of the release Theosis, the third and final piece in the three album sequence.  The album comprises five tracks of boundary-defying electronica, exploring overlaps and communions betwen vaporwave, lofi house and analog ambience while remaining perpetually shaded in the hues of the city when it rains – like a story told in an urgent whisper, Theosis is an ASMR recording of your last rites as read to you by someone who loves you dearly, snapped to a shuffle groove.

Geo Metro (Aesir AV Collective, Philadelphia) yesterday announced a trio of thematically related full-length LPs receiving simultaneous release across three separate labels: Tiger Blood Tapes (Toronto), V I R T U A 94 records (Philadelphia) and NOREMIXES (Philadelphia).

All three albums are arranged in thematic consideration of the three stages of ascetic contemplation – Katharsis, Theoria and Theosis – as described by Pseudo-Dionysus the Areopagite, a 6th century theologian of minor note.

The work collected across these three albums leaps between extremes of boundary-defying electronica, exploring overlaps and communions between vaporwave, lofi house and analog ambience while remaining perpetually shaded in the hues of the city in the rain – like an ASMR recording of your last rites as read to you by someone who loves you dearly, snapped to a grid.

In physical form, the j-cards of all three albums can be arranged side by side to create a contemplative image of Simeon the Holy Fool dragging his dead dog through the ancient city of Emesa.

Each label involved will be pressing 50 copies of their respective releases to cassette – meaning only 50 complete sets can ever be obtained.

2/21/20 – all platforms, everywhere.

We are thrilled to be releasing Theosis on 2/21/2020.  Stay tuned for details regarding pre-orders of the cassette as well as the digital release.

Composer and producer Matt Baggiani is joining the NOREMIXES family with his brilliant EP Hiraeth.  Below, you can preview the title track.  With this release, Baggiani approached the creative process as a means for the mind to travel into uncharted space; Hiraeth can be thought of as unfinished inventories of sonic fragments and compositional endeavors.

Italian-born, now Los Angeles resident, Baggiani is an in demand composer of original music for television and advertising, and is equally comfortable in front of the piano and a modular synthesizer.  Hiraeth is released February 7th 2020.

RVLVR celebrated the release of his new EP Stranger with an interview with John Morrison of WKPN’s The Key.  They discuss the background behind the dystopian song titles and lyrics as well as the extensive productions.  Definitely give it a read here.

We are very happy to announce that Starkey’s score for the room-sized immersive VR film Vestige won Best Soundtrack at the 2019 Espinho Immersive Film Festival in Portugal.  The film is available via Steam, Oculus and Viveport.  The soundtrack was released earlier this year on NOREMIXES.  If you haven’t experienced the film yet, definitely check it out if you have VR equipment at your home.

Check out the score here.

RVLVR returns to NOREMIXES with a single that builds on his most recent collaborative EP with Ben O’Neill. Machine Gun Mouth is an almost all analog affair, with tracking and mixing taking place at Wyncote PA’s Kawari Sound. RVLVR provides all the overdubs on this one: drums, vocals, keyboards.

To celebrate the release, we broke our own rules and had 5 artists rework the track. Remixes were provided by Starkey, John Morrison, William Fields, Shell Money (who actually engineered the record with RVLVR) and WWAARRPPSSPPEEEEDD. You can preview the WWAARRPPSSPPEEEEDD remix below.
